Faces of 4Site – Heather Schneider, Project Manager

In this series, we will be featuring the different staff members of 4Site Studios. We asked each member of the team to answer a few questions about themselves to give you a sense of who they are. This week, we interviewed Heather Schneider, our Project Manager. 

1) In 250 characters or less, tell us your life story.

Jersey Girl who went to college (for Geriatrics) and grad school (Library Science). I met my fiancé (now hubby) at a wedding (yeah, it happens) and shortly after we moved to DC for my job, an adventure, and it was also time to branch out from NJ. We have 1 toddler, 2 dogs and 1 crazy cat aptly named “Chucky.”

2) When/why/how did you get involved professional with digital technology and design?

I unintentionally got into the digital space right out of college. I went to grad school for Library Science so I could become a college librarian. I quickly learned I was most interested in online search and got my first job at Dow Jones News Retrieval teaching customers how to build advanced search queries. I held a ton of different positions at Dow Jones / Factiva, worked at several start-ups and large technology companies and have learned that making information findable, usable and accessible is what motivates me. I love helping people have that “AHA!” moment where they are able to find the information they need.

3) What expression or quote would best describe your personality?

“You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child.” – Dr. Seuss

4) What is your favorite piece of digital technology and why?

I have two: My iPhone and my backlit Kindle – both give me something to do while hanging out in the dark of my toddler’s room waiting for her to fall asleep.

5) What is one topic you know way too much about?

Exercise, nutrition and crazy pet behavior (okay, that’s 3).
