High-Impact Design for Mission-Driven Organizations
4Site is a growing digital agency in Washington, DC that helps large, mission-driven organizations solve their toughest digital fundraising challenges. We have several projects this spring that require design support and are looking for a UX/UI Designer who can jump in and contribute immediately. This is a mid-level, individual contributor role. You will collaborate closely with our developers, strategists, project managers, and clients to design donation pages and emails templates.
The position bridges the gap between aesthetic excellence and donor conversion strategy, focusing on the User Interface (UI) and the “Giving Experience” (GX) of our clients’ digital properties. You will not simply be creating one-off campaign pages; you will be establishing the canonical design systems that the organization will use for all future digital fundraising and advocacy. You must balance brand fidelity with platform constraints, ensuring that complex features—like recurring upsells, digital wallet integration, in-memoriam eCards, and inline error validation—feel intuitive and effortless to the donor.
Core Technical Requirement
- Figma Mastery: Figma lies at the center of our design process. You must possess advanced proficiency in Figma—including a deep understanding of auto-layout, component libraries, global styles, and interaction states—to ensure your designs transition seamlessly from client review to developer handoff without losing their integrity.
Experience Necessary for Success
You will need a specific blend of systematic thinking, technical awareness, and a command of design principles (typography, layout, whitespace, and color theory, etc.).
- Systems-Level Design: Experience building modular, component-based design systems in Figma (auto-layout, master components) that can be easily replicated and adapted by developers.
- Email Design Expertise: Experience designing for the rigid constraints of email marketing. You must understand how to create durable, modular email blocks that won’t break when edited by clients, while accounting for inbox rendering quirks and dark mode resilience.
- Client Communication: The ability to facilitate design review sessions, absorb consolidated feedback from multiple stakeholders, and confidently defend design choices while balancing client requests.
- Accessibility (WCAG): A strong working knowledge of accessibility standards, ensuring high color contrast, readable typography, and screen-reader-friendly logical hierarchies.
Responsibilities
- Discovery & Alignment: Participate in early internal and client kickoff meetings to understand the organization’s existing branding, workflows, and platform constraints.
- Donation Page Template Design: Produce high-fidelity desktop and mobile mockups for canonical donation structures. This includes defining the visual interface for giving arrays, recurring upsell placements, tribute flows, and digital wallet support.
- Email Template System Design: Create modular, reusable email template systems (headers, content blocks, CTA styles, footers) that are visually compelling, durable for client editing, and optimized for dark mode and cross-client rendering.
- Advocacy UX: Translate the core donation design system into corresponding structural designs for advocacy pages (e.g., petitions, email-to-target).
- Iterative Design Reviews: Participate in design review sessions with client stakeholders, consolidating feedback and refining layouts until formal approval is secured.
- Developer Collaboration: Package and deliver clean, implementation-ready Figma files to the development team, ensuring all interaction states (hover, active, error, success) are clearly defined.
- Quality Assurance (QA): Conduct visual and functional QA on the fully developed pages and emails prior to launch, validating design fidelity.
