4Site is a growing digital agency in Washington, DC that helps large, mission-driven organizations solve their toughest digital fundraising challenges. We are searching for a long-term contractor to support a small number of high-value clients. Ideally this role soon will grow into a full-time position.
Core Responsibilities & Expectations
As a Director of Strategy, you will be the primary strategic advisor for a dedicated portfolio of clients, guiding them to maximize their impact on platforms like Engaging Networks and WordPress and helping them achieve their mission-critical goals.
Success in this role requires a sophisticated blend of high-level strategic advisement, deep client partnership, and oversight of the success of the deliverables. The position is built upon three key pillars that define the Director’s day-to-day responsibilities and long-term contributions to our clients and our agency. The following sections detail the core expectations across these pillars of leadership and execution.
- Strategic & Account Leadership – You will serve as the lead strategic advisor for a dedicated portfolio of three-or-four clients, acting as their partner in innovation and growth. This involves ideating and leading major initiatives such as full-scale website redesigns, defining sophisticated fundraising and advocacy strategies within eCRM (e.g., Engaging Networks), and delivering deep analytical insights using a range of analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Looker Studio, Microsoft Clarity). We expect you to move beyond simple best practices, proactively identifying opportunities to expand our clients’ digital programs and guiding them in defining and measuring success through innovative, data-driven solutions.
- Project Execution & Cross-Functional Collaboration – As a Director, you are accountable for the strategic integrity of projects from inception to launch. A core mandate of this role is to foster deep, continuous collaboration with our project managers, designers, and developers, breaking down silos to ensure seamless execution. From initial scoping through final QA, you will be embedded with the project team to identify risks early and ensure the strategic vision is successfully implemented. You will have the authority to guide project execution, ensuring that all deliverables align with the strategic goals established with the client and that our work meets the highest standards of quality and impact.
- Team Contribution & Professional Growth – You will foster a culture of open communication and continuous improvement by mentoring colleagues and sharing insights. This role requires a commitment to continuous, self-driven learning to stay at the forefront of emerging trends in nonprofit technology, analytics, and digital marketing.
Required Qualifications & Skills
This section outlines the essential experience and capabilities required to excel in this client-centric and technically complex role. Candidates must demonstrate a proven ability to lead, innovate, and execute at a high level.
- Non-Profit Experience – You must have at least 5 years of experience working with or for a non-profit in a digital fundraising role.
- Communication – Executive-level communication skills with the proven ability to lead high-stakes client meetings, and articulate complex strategies.

- Digital Strategy – Mastery of designing and executing multi-channel digital fundraising and advocacy campaigns that move audiences up the ladder-of-engagement.
- Technical Platforms – Intimate experience leveraging eCRM and CMS platforms like Engaging, and a demonstrated ability to translate complex data into strategic insights using Google Analytics (G4) and Looker Studio.
- AI Fluency & Augmentation: Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools as a force multiplier for efficiency, documentation, and communication. You should possess the professional maturity to ensure AI augments, rather than replaces, critical human judgment and strategic decision-making.
