Events Management, User-Generated Content, and Publishing Workflow for WordPress Site
Our Work
The Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) works to improve the ways in which scholarly research is evaluated. In 2023, they celebrated their 10th Anniversary and hosted a variety of physical and virtual events all around the world to commemorate the occasion. They asked 4Site to build a system to publicize these events and to invite their worldwide community of members to submit their own events for publication. We built a system for their WordPress website that accepts new event submissions from unauthenticated users, converts them into posts in the website, and enters them into a publishing queue. The system detects the timezone of the submitters system and makes automatic revisions to the post to ensure accuracy. To build this, we used FacetWP and Gravity Forms plugins, as well as some custom code.
4Site’s excellent staff listened to the our needs and efficiently delivered a product that met our expectations. And they trained our staff on the new workflow so we could easily manage the content. The project was a big success.
